Looking for Day Trip Ideas Near Quantico? Consider These Fun Staycations!

May 1, 2015

With the days getting longer and Memorial Day just weeks away, vacation season is upon us. That doesn't mean, however, that you need to use up all of your vacation days at work — or spend thousands of dollars! Instead, why not enjoy a quick getaway to a destination near Quantico? Here are a few of our favorites:

1) Prince William Forest Park: With babbling streams, numerous lakes, paved roads for bicycling, and 37 miles of hiking trails, this 15,000-acre park is a picturesque spot to reconnect with the great outdoors. Camp in a tent, or spend the night in a rustic cabin! Active duty military members are admitted free!

2) Old Town Manassas: Frequent events (farmers' markets, music festivals, walking tours) augment the appeal of this quaint Virginia town. It's also home to many boutiques, art galleries, and museums.

3) Busch Gardens Williamsburg: More than 380 acres' worth of roller coasters, kid-friendly performances, and more await at this theme park and seasonal water park in James City County. The park offers free, single-day admission for active duty military members and up to three dependents!
