Get Ready to Shop, Quantico! You Can Snag School Supplies for Less During the Virginia Tax-Free Weekend!

August 1, 2015

Virginia's own version of Black Friday rolls into town on Friday, August 7. That's the first day of a weekend-long event known as the Virginia Tax-Free Weekend. What used to be three separate tax-free holidays has been combined into a three-day event (from midnight on Thursday until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday) during which Virginia residents are entitled to tax-free shopping sprees.

You won't have to pay tax on school supplies, clothing, hurricane and emergency items, and Energy Star or WaterSense appliances during the free-for-all, but there are some reasonable restrictions. For instance, each school supply must cost less than $20 in order to be exempt from taxes (a pretty easy feat when you're just stocking up on binders and pens). So start scoping out the stores near Quantico now in order to have a game plan by go-time!
